Last December my tolling motor on the Stealth kayak was
constantly jammed with seeweeds in the Keurboomsriver,
Groenvlei, Natures Valley lagoon, etc. Much to my wife's annoyance
who had to clean the weeds frequently off the motor.
We are leaving for Plett on Wednesday and I made this stainless
steel"cowell" with a stainless steel sieve for the motor.
Sure, it will still catch seeweads but Now I will be able to discard
the seewead by reversing the polarity on the motor - and not
having to call "Hepl" to my my wife.
It will also slow the speed down but that's OK. We are on
holiday

Good on you for doing the cooking......I can only do scrambled eggs and coffee. ( besides braai)
What is the power of your trolling motor and how fast does it propell your ski? I am a 60year old and thinking of doing a trolling mod to my hunterski. ( don't have the stamina to do too much paddling.) Iam interrested to know if 18lbs thrust would be enough for a ski on inland waters.

Hi Eric,
I deleted my previous posting because it may be regarded as
disrespectful - which was not the intention.
I am also 60 and find the motorized kayak to be very usefull
on estuaries, inland waters, etc. Although my wife & paddle frequently on the ocean.
(A motorized kayak not to be attempted on the ocean)
I use a "modified" 18lb thrust motor which is quite adequate
(maybe too fast)
I will post some detail pics of the set-up when we are in Plett.
Probaly by Friday
(Taking the Laptop with me)
