Title: The African Way: RIB/Dhow hybrid
Post by: John F on November 26, 2010, 10:08:07 PM
On a recent trip to Inhambane, I found this bizarre looking boat at Tofo beach...

At a closer inspection I realized it had a RIB hull which was then coupled with a typical local dhow gunnel finish on top... the result: a truly testament to the African ingenuity!

TIA!

Enjoy

Here's another case of a hybrid duck/dhow.... currently being re-built in Angoche, northern Moz...

Cool... I was remembering the thread you started some years ago on the old boat skeletons found on your Moz trips... Maybe the thread needs revival, it's a wonderful chronicle of some great old vessels.
