Title: Changing spools on carp reels
Post by: ZAH 258 on May 06, 2019, 02:24:35 PM
Hey guys.

After using ancient equipment for the longest time I finally bought myself some new equipment. Got myself a Penn warlord 5000 which comes with an extra aluminium spool.

My question is... When you are removing the spool there is quite a bit of grease (green in colour). I'm sure it would be advisable to add grease to the spare spool before using it?

Please validate my concerns and also let me know what grease would be good to use

The Drive shaft and resting plate needs a little grease and then some light grease under the spool on the fitting/spinning surface. Any decent grease will do for this application.
