Title: Cleaning Power & Transducers Pins on the back of a Garmin Striker

Anyone know the best method for the above. I have slight corrosion and would like to tackle before its too late?

I'd spray corrosionX or reelx and allow it to do its thing

I'm wondering how well an Ultrasonic bath would work? Guys are cleaning circuit boards with them now.

If you only need to do the pins without submerging the entire unit, it can be suspended in the water? Just an idea. Ultrasonic baths do a great job on any corrosion and rust.

Whenever I have bought a new sonar, my first move has always been to grease the contacts on the plugs an sockets. I use a silicone grease formulated specifically for the purpose. It's a Dow Corning product called MS4 Silicone Compound, though I see that it's now been renamed DC4. I've used it on on all electrical contacts on my boats.


Corrosion block grease will work very effectively too. If you only have the oil, then repeat the application a bit more often.
