Title: Non Return Slides

Hi i have a lot a non return slides made of spring wire, the problem i am having is i cannot weld the power swivel to it, i have tried bending it, it can be done but its a mission, what can i use to weld or solder it, or is there another way of adding the power swivel to it

Think Solder works the best. That's the way we used to do it 10 years ago... :dunno:

i tried solder but it doesn't hold, maybe before i solder it i must sand it slightly to give the solder some grip?

The only way to solder steel is with Silver solder. Takes a bit of practice to get right, but worth it in the end.Only other option is to bend differently...

thanks reefman i think i will just make a jig so that it makes it easy to do the bends

My vote is for those pics Reefs posted. you will be able to change out the swivel for whatever reason necessary.


With the ones that are soldered, you don't have that option.

exactly just need to make a jig like the 1 in the video and i can use my slides

Looks pretty good..Now tie it to a tree and pull the cr@p out of it..and see if the thing stands up to the pressure. :-)

Use 40% silver solder, afrox supplies a good product. Make sure your steel is clean, most of the solder is flux coated, if your heat is controlled you can drop some of that flux onto your steel to clean the metal then start your solder.
