I am keen to try drop shotting ( as I am a bass angler at heart  ).I have the right rod and tackle ( jig head and plastics )
What areas would you target with a drop shot rig? open beaches or rocky areas? Ive seen a couple of guys ( on FB ) who have caught cob on drop from winkle and illovo ..... one being a rocky area and the other flat with no rocks.
How far do you cast? and what action do you use?
thank you

Targeting cob is not how far you need to cast. Cob hunt near structure. By structure I meen sandbanks and crevices between rocks. Fishing on a rocky erea you will have to be prepared to loose some lures. Cob feeds near the bottom waiting for the current to wash food from the structure in to the gully or crevice they lie in. Slow retrieve works best.
