Hey guys, this comp just got underway today in Sodwana, I have a couple of mates fishing it so I'll do my best to provide updates as they come in. It's a 10kg Line class all-release tournament and can get pretty exciting.
Day 1 - all boats safely launched, no news yet of any hookups / releases
KZN team on board "Me Steph" lures are set and working the area:
-
good luck to all
come on cyclone :sailf: :sailf: :sailf: :sailf: :sailf:

Stripbaits, decent polarised sunnys and concentration are whats needed.............great fishing, not just your normal 'pulling plastic'!! w;k

"Me Steph" belongs to Charles and Juley du Plessis (charlesdup on the forum) they are both Natal Provincial anglers
Reinhard's boat is "A Salt Weapon" Reinhardt has also fished this comp before as part of the Griquas team.
-
Day 1 - Close of scales - no sailfish caught and released by any boats in the fleet. Some marginal bycatch. Tomorrow looks like a blow out.
-
Mark,
Any Moz HBs swimming this comp?
-
Thanks chaps, today is a blowout like Mark said at least we managed a by catch, think we will be fishing tomorrow

Also up here for WP! Got some tuna yesterday (all the way from CPT to catch some yellows :cnfzd ). Hope to fish again tomorrow. Tight lines. :sailf:

Day 3 - Ok so 6 sails were landed today, Natal got 2, Mpumalanga got 2, and then one each for Northern Transvaal and St Lucia (interclub team).
Team Natal with 2 T&R - one on a half-beak skip bait and the other on a lure with a strip.
-
(clap) :cgrts:
Halbeaks and stripbaits - can't beat that!
-
Fishing was slow today, we managed 2 yft but non :sailf:, at least western province managed a fish well done Tim and photo of us yesterday
-
:rck". Lekka, that's the way to enjoy them.....TLD 25 on a couta stick.
-
Day 4 - Slow day all round with only 1 sail T&R by WP. Lots of bycatch - small YFT and skipjack.
Day 5 - just heard it's been called off, leaving the final results :
Mpumalanga - Gold
KZN - Silver
Bronze -?
Top interclub team - Shelly Beach with 2 sails T&R.
Well done to all the anglers, pity the weather was a big player, would've been nice to see some more sailies.
-
Any reason they have this time of the year........plenty wind??
-
Shot for keeping us updated Mark :udman:
-
No prob guys. I think the timing is to make the most of the "early" season before all the chaos in November with OET and Billfish 15000 followed by Tri-facet Nationals. Not the best weather month but I suppose it's got to be early.
-
Shot for keeping us updated Mark :udman:
X 2 - thanks...
-
Yep, Northerns took 3rd, beat us on time. Lekker comp though and at least we got a fish.
Back next month for nationals.
Congrats to Mpumalanga and Natal. :cgrts:
