Hi All, just thought I'd share some of the pics of the popping rod I've just completed for Tony Doult (7/10ths) before I pack it away in my rod case to Dubai on Monday where it will wait quietly until October, when I'm going to enjoy watching Tony use it in anger.
Tony had a good think about it and picked a 8ft Black Hole Cape Cod Special Nano, which I think was great choice, anyone familiar with these nano blanks can appreciate the beautiful cross weave effect they have.
The usual Fuji bits, same as the rod I did for Kevin Patmore a few months back.
Tony was looking for Blue Black and Silver colours, and I know how he like his Shimano and YFT, so gave it a classic Shimano look and a nice YFT decal, as I'm sure Tony will be using it down south to chase YFT as well.
Thread wise a bit of everything really, Guderbrod, Prowrap and Pac Bay.
Finished in Procote Medium Build finish.
Really fun to build. Really hope it catch you lots of Geets Tony. :fshn: :gt: :gt: :gt:

Stick is a BEAUT !!!
You got a putting green in yr yard or just happen to have the stick with you when you decided to shoot a round? w;k
Sure Tony will really love this stick, I do, but being a tackle junkie I easily fall in love..

Thanks for comments guys, to Abaddon, yes got a 9 hole synthetic green out the back, apart from putting practice makes for a good even backdrop for rod pics.

Please tell me you got the Sage from that friendly blonde at Malcom's reception on your way out?

Harvard it's nice and clean.
I like your way of having the grips tie in with the rest of the build.
Your work reminds me of what the Yanks and even some guys in Europe do.
The only difference is, is that you executed it perfectly as these kind of grips can turn out a bit over the top.

Fishstyx - After all the kit... I am now broke, so bought a roll of that brown sisal string from Builders warehouse....!!! I does not fit much on the reel but looks cool in the brown and also 8 core like the JB 100lbs hollow core I would have liked... I am hoping to trick the Iggies to thinking it is JB and just reside themselves to the fact they will be caught and just swim to the boat for a quick pic! :gt:

w;k Nice... It's just a beeyatch tying a PR in sisal tho. Tends to get quite furry and ends up looking more like a wooly bugger instead.

I plan to go with the Jerry Brown 100lbs hollow core.... does not fizz soo much.

Very nice build mate. (clap)
Its two weeks till I pack my Nano rods and fly to Vanuatu to go get them bending.
Almost time to get fish fever in this 45C with 60%+ humidity desert... w;k
-
Thanks ET appreciate your comments in particular, to Gerhard, I'll be following you mate to Vanuatu, 1-6 June next year, that will be my big trip for 2015, I've disguised it well as a 10 year anniversary get away to the missus, but really it's just for me, but gee a boat for the week on your own is expensive, but I'm sure I won't regret it.
