Working on and off evenings and weekends, you could say two weeks.
Or 30-40 hours I guess.
Ball Park? Didn't know Loftus is for sale????
Who in their right mind would want to buy the Bulls?

Looks really nice. (clap). I'm looking to have a 5-6wt built for me and would like to know why they discontinued the xi3?

Xi3 is not discontinued. Xi2 got replaced by Xi3.
What do you want a 6wt for? What do you want to target?

The sage xi3 is being replaced by the sage salt. Looking for a 5wt to use dual purpose for light surf/ estuary as well as freshwater yellow/barbel fishing.

For what you want to do I would actually suggest the Sage One. As a budget option I would look at MHX. Very underrated but good value for money and it can take a beating. Have a look at the last Salty kit I did, there is a MHX in that kit and have a look what my thoughts where on it.

I wont do a Xi3 in 6wt, too heavy compared to other rods out there. The Method might be a good option too or even the new Orvis Helios 2.

Very Nice work E.T.

I'm busy wrapping Tony's popping rod guides at the moment, should be on the dryer in a couple of days, but after your pics, I'll need to pick up my game a bit.

But no doubt Tony will be fishing in style this October.

Hi Koos,

Where do you source your blanks?

There are quite a few in the States, but I prefer Mudhole.

Do you source directly through mudhole or do you have a local supplier? Can you give a rule of thump on the cost conversion plus shipping?

I supply myself.

I suggest you e-mail a couple of suppliers and find out for yourself what they charge not only for their goods, but also for shipping. Shipping varies from one to the next.

(Cost of goods in Dollar + Shipping in Dollar) x Current Exchange Rate = Total Cost in Rand

Add another 20-30% for tax and handling this side = Total Cost

There was a thread somewhere where people discussed shipping/tax/import, etc. maybe do a search and perhaps you will find some info to help you decide what or where you want to go.

Fishy,

Just to add to what ET's already said, to give you an idea on Mudhole shipping costs, these are some recent purchases I made,

Cost of blanks/components USD593/Shipping USD 75
Cost of Blanks/components USD 261/Shipping USD 35
Cost of Blanks/components USD 970/Shipping USD 78

That should give you a better idea on shipping, Mudhole invoice actual shipping costs after placing order and I have always found the actual shipping cost a good bit lower than the indicative cost given at time of order.

Also goes without saying the more blanks ordered in one go the more cost effective it is, so if you can get a few guys to club together it's not so bad.

Hope that helps you.
