Visited Pongola for the first time this past weekend. What an absolutely beautiful place. Very dry though, almost felt sorry for the game, doesn't look like they have much to eat. I'm sure the place is even more beautiful after some rain. Saw rhino, giraffe, hippos and hundreds of impala and varke. Anyway, went out twice on friday and in the morning on saturday. Had a few runs but couldn't get one of those striped waterdogs on the boat. Only fish we managed to land were two barbel. Was fun none the less, just having something on the line is reward enough. Tried the river close to the bridge but no luck, and also in a deeper hole where we got the barbel. Stayed at sodwana angling clud chalets, very neat and everything we needed. Next time i will definitely camp next to the water, didn't know there are such nice camping spots.

If campng next to the water be careful of the Hippo's that go strolling around at night. Quite dangerous.
