Title: Okuma Salina II spinning
Post by: Fishy on September 16, 2013, 05:46:12 PM
Gents,

Some assistance please.

I am in the process of servicing my Okuma Salina II spinning reel.

How do I service/grease the drag washers? It seems like a very finely woven fibre or felt washer. They appear wet once removed i.e. drenched in oil.

Fishy... the Salina's have "Japanese Oiled Felt washers" - not exactly sure what this means. I've searched all my contacts for info, but come up with zipp.
They seem to be similar to the Sustain and Stradic felt washers though.
On those I use a low viscosity grease like Cal's that can penetrate the washers and it works fine.
Alternatively, if you want to use Oil, I'd try a fairly thick type, like Motor Oil?  :dunno:
