I remember some time ago this topic was brought up but without any resolve.
Does anybody know what the regulations are regarding fishing in the harbour at night? I want to go catch some walla walla's for our Moz fishing trip. We are memebers of DSBC and our boat is night rated. I also have a night rated skippers ticket. The guys at DSBC reckon it is fine but others say I need a D.O.C. What figures?
-
You will be fine, no need for a DOC as that is for leaving and entering the port, the SAMSA rules say that you don't need night rating but apparantly the cops have other ideas - idiots!! You will need the port disc, I never got one from the club this year??
-
Thanks. That is what I thought - DOC only for entering and leaving the harbour.
Ya, got the port disc. Are there any no-go areas in the harbour that one wouldnt be allowed to fish?
-
You are not allowed into Island View channel - draw a line between Pier 1(red flashing every 3secs.) and Coal Berth (Bulk Terminal)
-
If I understand you correctly, you mean this?
-
also Stay away from the Tug moorings!
-
Yes, actually from Pier 1, the white one to the left.

Excellent. Thanks chaps. Bit lost for choice now as we have always came right in that no go area.
