I doubt many people know what ISO fishing is TW.
where are you trying it out and what gear are you using? do you have one of the lever brake spinners and the 13ft sloppy rod? I've never tried it myself but it looks like fun.

Huge fun was using a 10ft ISO rod with a 1pound tip now mainly use a shim 10ft vengeance light for galjoen float fishing with a small stradic and 6 pound braid ,the braid sinks though so need to go back to the nylon .The iso reels are stunning but cant justify the money spent on a seasonal toy as its only gallies we target .

Japanese rock fishing using a float system .Rods are 3,5-5,5m long , small reels very finesse fishing . Think of it as European pole fishing in the surf off rock ledges just 100% more expensive and !00% more fun than dropshot fishing  .

Its a niche fishing sport from japan where they specialise in the slightly odd. they target a sort of black bream similar to Galeon off rocky ledges, The rods are super long and very flexible and the small spinning reels they use have no drag system in the spool at all. Instead they have a lever that applies a brake to the spool the trick is to let the long rod absorb the runs and lunges of the fish without letting any line out, you only let line out if the rod bottoms out and can't recover.

With 12 lbs you can land some fish .

I hVe used , 9 and 10 lbs on bass sticks , landed some very good fish , but got smoked a bunch o times too .

Very cool though.
