Is it a sealed hull or does it have drain plugs at the back?

Mine is foam filled and sealed so you'll never know if there is water inside the hull. I don't like that.

If it has drain plugs, jack/lift the trailer nose right up high and remove the drain plugs to see if any water drains out.

Please post a clear pic of your transom so we can see if its sealed or has drain plugs.

Maintain it is unnatural for your boat to do this on flat water even with engines trimmed right in, and then have a propensity to "duck" only to one the same side of the boat, if its design, weight distribution and displacement is correct. There must be an underlying problem causing it to do this.

What's going to happen when he puts 5 people, tackle, coolbox and 4 or 6 spugs fuel onboard.

smart craft wont help with the broaching but it give you your trim engine temp revs and so on

have you got trim gauges fitted ? the best is to start with both motors fully trimmed in then get on the plain at the slowest speed it will stay on the plain. trim one motor out at a time and you will feel the boat lean you need to compensate to get it leve0l. it takes a while to get use to it with a cat as can be very unnerving

ok gents just a quick update so I took beep blue out to bronkies for the day did it bit of bass fishing of her we were 5 on board with me skipping the other 4 crew members fished comfortably I cant believe the deck space on 17'6 is really impressive for a boat this size. later in the afternoon the dam got REALLY bumpy thought I was offshore for a moment this was a good time to play around with the boat I easily sorted the problem out of the boat digging into the left trimming the port side motor up slightly sorted this out and she run really well. I also trimmed her bow up a lill must say I'm very impressed with 80 mercs as well playing around all on the water and we only used half a tank of fuel per motor!! overall I'm very happy with the setup we have :happ:    thanks to all for the advice!! :ult:

Hi Deepblu, I have just ordered a Sailfish 176. Have you had her on the sea yet? I'm keen to know what you think of her.

@ Hammer, they pretty looking boats just porpoise and broach a lot especially when under load.

Joking!, I think they are nice, still not sure why Deepblu's boat tended to broach to one side, clearly the trim has sorted the problem but I have never come across a boat that has to be trimmed up on a flat dam surface to run true.

Happy if you believe your problem is sorted.

thanks Admin :hyst: !!!  toppie (bat :hehe:        look I have heard from a few guys with various different cat hulls having the same problem Like Rory said he could make his boat do the same........ At Hammer look I cant comment haven't had her at sea yet but im sure Jerome could give you a few reference's maybe even organise you a ride on one down at Durban he is a hell of a helpful guy and will go out of his way to help you. however like said for this size boat the deck space is awesome also very very easy to off load and load from the trail hell using a nose rope you could even get her back on the trailer only!!! you more than welcome to have a look at our boat b ut if you have ordered it you will know its a lekker boat at the price!!!!

Hi Toppie, Ja I saw that. I have mailed Jerome today who builds them to ask him what the problem could be. If it was a once off.
I looked at loads of FC cats and I think the 176 has the best deck layout and nice options.
Hi Deepblu, Jerome was up from Durban and he popped in to see me on Saturday morning to say howzit. He's a nice guy. I wouldn't mind looking at your boat, I haven't seen one in the flesh.
