« on: January 10, 2024, 08:10:17 PM »
Hi, new here. Just wanted to ask if anyone has used glass beads on their traces. I am busy making bronze bream helicopter rig and have some clear glass beads but not sure if this will work. Anyone have any experience with this

Hi welcome to UA.
I have never used glass beads, but do occasionally use plastic beads, more to protects the knots on a sliding trace than anything else......I do try and get beads that glow in the dark, and will sometimes use them when night fishing. Have not really noticed them having any affect on the numbers of fish I catch, but then again, I live in JHB and don't get to do too much noight fishing......

Hi Skunky, welcome to UA.
If I'm correct glass beads are used by bass fishermen, because the clicking of the the glass bead against the sinker makes a clicking noise that attracts bass.
So why dont you add two beads to your hook snoot, give it a bash while fishing for blues and let us know if it works?
You have nothing to lose.

Many of the techniques we use today, is because many moons ago someone had a brain fart and though, what if I do this?????

Have fun and let us know

Thanks for the responses. Why I was asking mainly is I wanted to know if the glass bead was strong enough to withstand the pressure when the hook snoot pulls up against it, when you have a fish on. But yes, I will try it and see what happens.
