GT Fishing Kosi Bay
« on: January 01, 2023, 11:51:18 PM »
Hi All,

I am a novice Salt water angler and have been invited by a mate of mine to join him for a 2 week trip to Kosi Bay in the end of January.

I have bought a Daiwa popping 84-140G rod paired to a shimano Speedmaster 14000 spooled with 30LB boss braid.

I am having second thoughts about going for the 30lb over the 50lb, what would you recommend?

This will be my first time visiting Kosi and I will be fishing off his boat and the surf.

Your advice would be appreciated.

Hi and  :welc:

Definitely up your braid strength... I wouldn't go less than 50, but I'd probably settle on 65 or 80.

GT fishing in the surf requires that you bully the fish away from structure and the last thing you want is a lack of faith in braid, leader and terminals.

Best of luck.
Forgive me Father for I have spinned... It's been three weeks since my last cob session.
